After 9 years of psychotic existence and the birth of four albums on Adipocere records, Benighted turns back to their psychiatric spheres to create their fifth piece of extreme brutality “Icon”.
The last album “Identisick” received amazing welcomes and a new fall in the abysses of sickness shall now pass beyond it. With the arrival of the new drummer Kevin and the creation of 12 new songs mixing the brutal death spine of the band with other extreme influences, Benighted strikes hard and fast in the extreme scene.
They return to the Kohlekeller Studio in Germany to record “Icon” with the intent to crush all limits of everything they did before in terms of brutality, groove, and insane stuff. During July and August 2007 were done recording, mix and mastering at the studio with the precious help of Kristian Kohlemannslehner and Kai Stahlenberg. The organic and powerful sound of the album gives to the tracks the really strong dimension they deserved.
Each song has its own identity and should be able to open the album, representing fragments of the life of a psychotic man, in the depths of his slow mental sick building.
“Icon” is born.
