DRONE, the thrashers from Celle (Germany) have been up to mischief in the German Metal scene since 2005. At the Wacken Open Air festival they were triumphant winning the final of the Metal Battle Contest in which approx. 1.500 international bands participated. The press praised Drone as „live even stronger, more powerful and more energetic“ than on CD.
With their self-produced music clip to the song „Welcome to the Pit“ they could visualize their outstanding live performance in an action loaded video clip.
At the end of 2006, the four thrashers recorded their debut album „Head-on Collision“ at Stage One Studio under the supervision of renowned producer Andy Classen. The album has been released all over Europe by Armageddon Records in February 2007. Powerful parts pair together with sophisticated arrangements and close, with melodic heavyness, the gap between modern and old school, between virtuosic and brutal grooves. The album has been presented live on the Metal Battle Tour 2007, where Drone enthralled audiences all over Germany and some European countries. An additional European tour with Finnish acts Norther and Amoral was pulled off in October 2007.
Today, Drone are writing their second album for Armageddon Records, due to be released in mid ´08.
