All right! The Batallion was founded in Bergen, Norway in the summer of 2006. All members are well-established metal head musicians who have played in some of the most legendary bands from Norway, such as, Old Funeral, Grimfist, Taake, Borknagar, St. Satan, Deathcon and Bombers.

 The reason for starting The Batallion was pure hunger for the spirit of the old metal feel. They possess the guts, the rebellion and the authenticity it takes to perform this music. It's important to point out that this is NOT just another project band, but an independent band in all regards.

In December of 2006 The Batallion had 4 tracks completed and entered Conclave Studio in Bergen to record their debut EP. After considering offers from several labels, they decided to release the self-titled EP under their own label, Masculin Records. It was pressed in 500 copies on CD and 500 copies on 7" vinyl format. The EP has already been considered an instant classic in the Bergen metal scene. It also resulted in the band being booked for the Hole In The Sky Festival and Festung Open Air.

The Batallion entered Conclave studio again in November 2007 and proceeded to record their first full-length album. The quality of the material lead to a record contract with the Bergen based label Dark Essence Records (www.darkessencerecords.no).

The debut album has a release date set for the 17th of March 2008 in Norway, and the 21st of April 2008 in the rest of the world. The album is entitled ‘Stronghold Of Men’ and contains 11 tracks of ‘no compromise, shredding toughness’! It will be available on CD, LP and Picture Disc LP, and will be distributed through Tuba and Plastic Head.
