WARDRUNA is the brainchild of Kvitrafn (Einar Selvik), who started the project of making music out of the Norse runes after he left Gorgoroth as their drummer in 2004.

WARDRUNA is the sound of the Norse forgotten culture and played their very first show at The Viking Ship Museum during IMC 2009. That event was held during normal daytime opening hours, and the audience was mesmerized by the heavily emotional experience.

This is the first time in the History of The Viking Ship Museum that any artist have played a gig there at night and we are all looking forward to this out of this world experience.

The old aliances of the brotherhood in North is yet again established; INFERNO brings norwegian black metal to Stockholm for the kick off at the Cave Rock Club, February the 12th!  

One of Noways new leading black metal bands KOLDBRANN is playing their first swedish gig and MISTUR will give Stockholm a taste of the true black sound of Sogndals fjords and mountains. It's once again time for the Inferno 2010 kick off in Trondheim.

The happening will go down January 23rd at Fru Lundgreens. On the menu this evening is old school metal from 3 excellent bands and the full lineup of the festival. In addition to this we will give away 3 festival passes for 2010.

Obliteration (Kolbotn)
These young guys play death metal from the genres best period, late 80s/early 90. They have influences from several bands and genres but the influences of Autopsy shines through. The band now got their 2nd album out called Nekropsalms which have received great reviews everywhere.

Diskord (Oslo)
Slow, technical death metal of the best kind. Diskord have been playing this style of music for several years and after releasing a couple of demos and an EP they finally released an album in 2007 named "Doomscapes". This album is pretty unique and the band has become well respected both in Norway and abroad.

Resonaut (Trondheim)
A brand new band from Trondheim. Their sound consist of slow riffs, big rigs and high volume. They're soon ready with their first demo and believe 2010 is the year they confirm themselves as one of the best stoner/doom bands in the country.

One of Swedens greatest black metal bands, MARDUK will be back at INFERNO for the ten year anniversary together with Austrian BELPHEGOR and Norwegian RAGNAROK. Get ready for true blasphemic and satanic black metal when these bands hit the stage at INFERNO this easter!

MARDUK was formed by Morgan Steinmeyer Håkansson back in 1990 in order to form the "most brutal blasphemous band in the world". Their musical style was that of a straight-forward death metal influenced take on black metal music, but as the years progressed their style and imagery became more of a fast and intense form of black metal. Marduk's predominant lyrical topics are Satanism, anti-Christianity, Biblical tales, Third Reich history and World War II. The latter two are a later addition to their lyrical/conceptual themes, stemming from their 1999 release Panzer Division Marduk. MARDUK has had a huge international success and toured all over the world headlining festivals such as Wacken and Metal Mania. The band released their 11th studio album "Wormwood" this year and MARDUKs currrent bandmembers are Daniel "Mortuus" Rosten - vocals, Morgan "Evil" Steinmeyer Håkansson - guitar, Magnus "Devo" Andersson - bass and Lars Broddesson - drums.

The band was founded as Betrayer in 1991, but changed name to BELPHEGOR in 1993. The band is known for their fierce and brutal blackened death metal and released their seventh album "Bondage goat Zombie" in 2008. A real massacre of pounding Death Metal and majestic, hyper fast Black Metal, lyrics in english, german and latin and inspired by Marquis the Sade. The Band has been touring Europe and the USA several times, also as support to Danzig and last year with AMON AMARTH. The band's current members are Helmuth - vocals, Morluch - guitar and Serpenth - bass, live backing vocals. BELPHEGOR will give you a lesson in violence and a true offering of crushing Metal that you don't easily forget - Watch out when these militant death maniacs hits the INFERNO stage!

RAGNAROK was formed in August 1994 when Jontho P, and Jerv left their previous band called THOTH. They formed RAGNAROK together with Thyme(vocal) and Rym(guitar). Jerv played bass and Jontho the drums. Their debut-album "Nattferd" was released in 1995 and included the debut demo "Pagan Land". On the second album "Arising Realm", Shagrath of the band Dimmu Borgir contributed on keyboards and the band toured Denmark and Germany. With their third album "Diabolical Age" in 2000 the sound got faster, more brutal and aggressive. Hoest from the band TAAKE joined RAGNAROK in 2002 and they went on tour and perfected their sound for their next album "Blackdoor Miracle" in 2004. The band released their latest album "Collectors Of The King" this year and the bands current members are: HansFyrste - vocals, Brigge - guitar, Decepticon - bass and backing vocals, Jontho - drums. Ragnarok has not been seen on stage too often and their performance at INFERNO should not be missed!

German thrash heroes EXUMER is back, stronger than ever and ready to give the Inferno audience a brutal experience of their fast and furious thrash metal with over-the-top vocals and twin guitar assaults. Get ready for the true cult legends of thrash metal at INFERNO's ten year anniversary!

Originally formed in 1989 by PAUL ADAMS(bass), IAN TREACY(drums), DARREN BROOKES & PETER REW(guitars) and MARK(BARNEY)GREENWAY (vox), Birmingham based BENEDICTION drew the attention of Nuclear Blast records with their first demo "THE DREAMS YOU DREAD".

Their first album "SUBCONSCIOUS TERROR" was released in 1990. BARNEY left and was replaced by DAVE INGRAM and the band went on tour throughout Europe. 1991 they released "THE GRAND LEVELLER" which gained international acclaim throughout the death metal scene and they toured with BOLT THROWER, NOCTURNUS, MASSACRA and DISMEMBER. The reputation of BENEDICTION live was bringing in large crowds and most of their shows were sold out. Since then they've been touring the world, several times with BOLT THROWER.

Dave Hunt replaced Dave Ingram and BENEDICTION released their sixth album "ORGANISED CHAOS" in 2001. The band went on tour with IMMORTAL, followed by yet another tour with BOLT THROWER! These 2 bands have a bond and an honesty that has stayed strong throughout their respective careers. Their latest album "KILLING MUSIC" was released august 2008. BENEDICTION have had several different bandmembers and today the band is Darren Brookes (guitar), Peter Rewinsky (guitar), Dave Hunt (vocals), Frank Healy (bass), Neil Hutton (drums).

From fragility and delicacy to raw screaming power, Jarboe, is a variety of voices from the shy schoolgirl to seductress to demon. The world got to know her through the Swans and since then she has developed an eclectic, experimental sound and a preformance that will blow your head off!

Jarboe's recorded and performed projects produce only her unique energy. She draws from a variety of charged sources from her early exposure to snake-handling revivals in the Mississippi delta, experimental performance in gallery & live radio, her 14-year critically acclaimed recordings and collaboration with Swans. Her delivery can be at turns innocent, knowing, seductive, & vitriolic - contained in melodic as well as experimental compositions.

She has released 20 solo albums in addition to working on 20+ Swans albums and 60+collaborative projects with visual & sound artists all over the world. She has recorded in various countries, including Europe, Japan, and the Middle East.

The performance at Inferno 2010 will feature Attila Csihar.

It's with great enthusiasm that we put South of Heaven in charge for the INFERNO club event at Rock In. South of Heaven was founded in 2003 and is the only, pure extreme metal club in Oslo. They booked bands like 1349 and Koldbrann as early as -03 and since then been visited by Venom, Kreator, Cannibal Corpse og Celtic Frost, just to name a few from a impressive list of bookings. The club has a Slayer warranty at every event and provides Oslo with extreme metal on a regular basis.

Nachtmystium is the latest band to join the 2010 lineup.

Nachtmystium was founded by Blake Judd and Pat McCormick in 2000. The band released their first record Reign of the Malicious in 2002 followed by Demise in 2004, which was the last straight forward 'raw black metal' record, Judd stated later. On the next two albums; Eulogy IV (2004) and Instinct: Decay (2006), they incorporated psychedelic and experimental musical elements that were pioneered by bands like Black Sabbath and Pink Floyd. Decibel Magazine described the band's sound as "Blackadelia" and compared the latest album Assassins (2008) with Pink Floyd claiming; "it's what happens when Pink goes black"

Today Nactmystium's members are Blake Judd - Guitar, Vocals, Jeff Wilson - Guitar, Tony Laureano - Drums, Jon Necromancer - Session bass (live). The band states that Nachtmystium exists as an outlet for the dark musical visions and summonings of those involved. We are NOT a black metal band and wish not to be branded as such, the future of Nachtmystium lies within no boundaries, no scenes, genres or cliques. Have your scenes and trends, we have no part in your herding. Find Nachtmystium and discover the true spirit of individuality and intolerance!

The festival is well known for presenting new and lesser known bands. Every year we reserve some of the first slots at John Dee and at the clubs for these types of bands. Our audience enjoys discovering new bands and every year this is getting more and more popular. We receive a lof of demos/promos, which is a good thing of course, since most of them are really good. But it is a lot of work to register and take care of all the CD`s manually. Every year we also receive CD`s with no contact information as well as a bunch right after the deadline. So to make things easier for both you and us we ask you to register online.

Exclusive and unique concert with THE KOVENANT at Inferno's ten year anniversary. The band will play the entire Nexus Polaris album live with these original members; Nagash, Psy Coma, Hellhammer, Sverd & Jezebel Deva!

THE KOVENANT was formed in 1992 by two black metal artists known as Nagash(Stian Arnesen) and Blackheart (Amund Svensson) who released the debut-album In Times Before the Light (1997). The band signed with the german record company Nuclear Blast, in 1998 and recruited four other members to form an actual band: Astennu (of Dimmu Borgir, Carpe Tenebrum), Sverd (of Arcturus), Sarah Jezebel Deva (of Cradle of Filth and others), and Hellhammer (of Mayhem and others). With these new recruits, they released their second album, Nexus Polaris, which was hugely successful and is largely considered their best album to date by fans. The album also resulted in the band getting a Norwegian Grammy for Best Hard Rock Band 1998.

Clarion Hotel Royal Christiania is a four star hotel right in the centre of Oslo with only 5 minutes walk from the Rockefeller festival venue. Located in the heart of Oslo the hotel is just down the street from hot spots like Garage and Elm Street. Across the street you find the main central train station with direct access to the airport and all major cities. No more taxi rides! Another cool thing is that now the whole Inferno family will stay at the same hotel. The previous years at Scandic Hotels has been good, but we've been divided into two separate hotels. Now all audience, artists, media and music business attendees will stay under the same roof.

The first bands to be announced for the 2010 edition of our festival are Mayhem, Finntroll and Taake.

MAYHEM - 25 years of chaos
In spite of all the myths and drama, Mayhem has always delivered outstanding and truly great black metal! The band is known for its violent and extraordinary live-acts but also their raw and sometimes experimental sound. Their latest album, Ordo Ad Chao (2007), for which they also received the Norwegian grammy award, , they're back to the obscure, raw and necro sound from their debut album Deathcrush (1987). By the way; Deathcrush was the first Norwegian black metal album ever to be released! Mayhem have had several different bandmembers and today the band is Attila Csihar (Vocals), Necrobutcher (Bass), Hellhammer (Drums) with session guitarists Morfeus and Silmaeth. They are regarded as one of the pioneers of the influential Norwegian black metal scene and has a worldwide fanbase. Mayhem delivers 25 year of Norwegian metal history when they hit the stage at Inferno 2010!

FINNTROLL - Finnish folk metal
Finntroll is an extreme metal & viking/folk metal band from Finland. They combine elements of black metal, death metal, and folk metal with Finnish polka, called humppa.Finntroll is to release a new album in 2009 and the bandmembers are Mathias "Vreth" Lillmåns (vocals), Samuli "Skrymer" Ponsimaa (guitar), Mikael "Routa" Karlbom (guitar), Sami "Tundra" Uusitalo (Bass), Samu "Beast Dominator" Ruotsalainen (drums) og Henri "Trollhorn" Sorvali (keyboards). Watch out for these trolls from Finland and their melodic and extreme viking/folk metal at the Inferno stage!

TAAKE - True Norwegian Black Metal
Having avoided commercialism through the band's 16 years of existence, Taake still prefers to remain underground. Nevertheless, the obscure entity from Bergen is now considered one of the most important bands from Norway, highly acclaimed for maintaining the primeval aspects of the 90's Black Metal tradition, combined with unique and unpredictable dynamics. Controversial mainman Hoest recorded all instruments and vocals himself for the latest self-titled album, but hits the stage accompanied by musicians from Helheim, Deathcult, Dead to this World and Slavia. Taake has gained a reputation for being a highly intense live act and their second performance at the Inferno Festival should not be missed!
